Refining the sketches

Pat now has all the information he needs to produce a full set of plans for the sketch stage. Jake and Barbara didn't want to make any changes to the concept stage sketches, so Pat just needs to incorporate the information he gained from the site inspection to develop his sketches to the next stage.

Whenever you work on a building project, you'll need to work within the guidelines and requirements for the local area, which could include:

  • guidelines for connection to the local authority stormwater drainage system
  • asbestos disposal guidelines
  • local government property local law
  • local laws relating to fencing
  • modifying period buildings guidelines
  • verge development guidelines

as well as the national building codes and regulations.

Task

Complete three sketch stage plans for the Rogers' workshop; a site plan, a floor plan and a front elevation. To help with this consult your concept stage sketches. You may also need to refer to your completed client brief or the first client meeting between Pat and the Rogers.

You can find out more about what to include in each of the three sketches by examining the sketches Pat completed when he designed Jake and Barbara's house.
